The Burundi senior national team and U-23 head coach, Jimmy Ndayizeye has summoned a 29 man provisional squad in preparations for the upcoming CECAFA U-23 to be staged in Ethiopia next month.
The squad is made up of local players, including the best performers in the concluded 2020-2021 Primus League. The league’s top scorer, Abdoul Rahman Rukundo, this year’s revelation of the league, Frank Nduwimana, and Onesme Rukundo, the senior national team first choice have all been called for CECAFA U-23.
All the member Associations under the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) have confirmed participation so far and they agreed to contribute US$20,000 for their team to participate. DR Congo will participate in this year’s edition as a guest country
The training sessions started on Thursday, June 17th at the Urukundo stadium in Ngozi
