CAVB Confirms The Men’s Teams to Participate In the 2021 African Nations Volleyball Championship

Africa volleyball governing body CAVB has confirmed the final list of men’s teams that will take part in the African Nations Volleyball Championship to be held in Kigali, Rwanda.

The African Nations Volleyball Championship is the official competition for the senior men’s national volleyball teams of Africa that is organized by the African Volleyball Confederation, CAVB.

The Inaugural tournament was held in 1967 in Tunis, Tunisia where the host emerged champions. Tunisia is the nation that has won the tournament the most with 10 trophies. Egypt has the highest back-to-back titles where they won it 6 times between 2005 and 2015.

The 22nd edition of the tournament was played in Tunis, Tunisia from 21st to 28th July 2019. Rwanda after winning hosting rights was designated by CAVB will host the 23rd edition of the Men’s African Nations Volleyball Championship from 5th to 16th September 2021 in Kigali.

Tunisia is the current titleholder after they defeated Cameroon 3-2 with Algeria holding 3rd after overcoming Egypt 3-1 in the 22nd edition.

This 23rd edition of the African Nations Volleyball Championship will see an increase in the number of senior men’s national volleyball participating teams from 10 to 17.

The host Rwanda will play a friendly match against Cameroon today at 18:30 local time in Petit Stade behind closed doors.

The list for the women’s teams is expected to be announced Friday, September 3rd, 2021.

The tournament also serves as the qualification for the Volleyball World Championship to be held in Russia.
