BURUNDI: The football league started, 2 forfeits on Day 1

The first round of the Burundi Football Championship kicked off on Saturday, September 5th. 6 games were played out of 8 scheduled games.

The League started full of surprises, as the defending champions Le Messager Ngozi started their journey with a heavy defeat against Flambeau du Centre at the Ingoma Stadium with a score of three goals to none

The historical team Vital’O were not good enough on their first game of the season at the Intwari Stadium, they hosted Police force team Rukunzo and which ended in a defeat. Landry Ndikumana and Hamissi Bizimana were on target for the latter

Bumamuru and Kayanza United didn’t appear on the stadium due to players who have not yet received licenses to play the league. According to the Burundi Football Federation law of competition, Les Elephants and Bujumbura City that were supposed to play against them got an automatic win sharing two goals each.

In other matches, Musongati with the help of Olivier Dusabe defeated Inter Star at the Ingoma Stadium in Gitega Province.
