Simon Msuva scored a second half goal to secure a 1-0 win for Tanzania against their neighboors Uganda in 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier played in Suez Canal Stadium in Egypt.
Tanzania’s hopes of qualifying for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations are increasing after the Taifa Stars shocked their rivals Uganda by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The East Africans were split apart by Simon Msuva’s goal in the 68th minute, adding to the agony for Milutin Micho Sredojovic’s squad, who remain at the bottom of Group F with only one point after three games.
There is no doubt that coach Micho is under huge pressure. After losing 2-0 to Algeria away in Alger, drawing with Niger at home, and a loss to Tanzania, the Cranes’ performance in this continuing competition has yet to improve.
They travel to Dar es salaam for a second leg encounter on Tuesday, March 28 at Mkapa International Stadium
Uganda is still in last position with only one point, three points behind second-placed Tanzania and one point behind third-placed Niger. Algeria is the Group leader with 9 points.
Coach Micho and Adel Amrouche chose to set up their lineups in this way
Uganda XI: Salim Jamal, Kenneth Ssemakula, Aziz Kayondo, Halid Lwaliwa, Livingstone Mulondo, Khalid Aucho, Siraje Ssentamu, Farouk Miya, Joseph Ochaya, Emmanuel Arnold Okwi, Fahad Bayo
Tanzania XI: Aishi Manula, Dickson Job, Novatus Dismas, Bakari Mwamnyeto, Ibrahim Bacca, Himid Mao, Yassin Mzamiru, Mudathir Yahya, Said Khamis, Mbwana Samatta (C), and Simon Msuva
