Rutsiro held APR FC to a goalless draw at Kigali Pelé Stadium in a rescheduled Matchday 1 fixture of the Rwanda Premier League.
The defending champions suffered another 0-0 setback on Sunday, November 10, and now trail their rivals by 12 points in the Rwanda Premier League standings.
The army team has postponed several fixtures this season due to their involvement in continental club competitions
The league originally scheduled the APR vs. Rutsiro match for August 28, 2024, as their opening game of the 2024-25 RPL season.
Before this encounter, Rutsiro, as an underdog, had never taken a single point from any of their previous matches against APR.
This goalless draw marked APR’s second 0-0 result of the season against a Rubavu-based club, having also drawn 0-0 with Etincelles at Umuganda in their league opener.
The result does not favor Darko Novic’s team in their pursuit of high-flying Rayon Sports, who are on a six-match winning streak. APR now trails their rivals and league leaders by 12 points, although they still have three games in hand compared to Rayon Sports.
With eight points from five matches, the Rwanda’s most decorated club sits in 11th place, one point behind 10th-placed Rutsiro.
