Silverbacks and City Oilers player Jimmy Enabu happy to be back in training as they prepare for the 2nd window of the AfroBasket Qualifiers 2021.

The Silverbacks are back in non-residential training as they prepare for the 2nd window of the AfroBasket Qualifiers 2021 to be held between 19th and 21st February 2021 — venues to be announced.

Uganda is 2nd in Group E with leaders Egypt, Cape Verde, and Morocco respectively with high chances of qualifying for the AfroBasket scheduled to take place at Kigali Arena, Kigali, Rwanda from August 24th to September 5th, 2021.

Head coach Mandy Lutwama Juruni is guiding the local players through this non-residential training. “looking at the first window, we already lost a player through injury, Mugenga. Who is a 2 and 3 and 1. So, we really needed to cover that gap up. And we thought Caesar Kizito would be given a chance for that,” said the head coach.

Captain Jimmy was among the players who attended the training camp. “We are happy to be back and our eyes on the price. So, we are ready to work hard and get ready for the 2nd window. We anticipate that the games will be harder. So, even the way we are practising is in such a way that we expect the competition to be better than it was in the 1st window,” said Jimmy Enabu.

Jimmy Enabu was very instrumental in the 1st window where he helped the Silverbacks emerge second in Group E and remains first-team choice material for the technical staff. The team plans to have a 2 weeks camp before the 2nd window games start.
