In a General Assembly Meeting held on Saturday, February 6th, members of the Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB) decided that the 2021-2022 season will serve-off tentatively on March 20, 2021.

During this meeting, which was convened virtually, the rules governing the league for this season were approved after making amendments to it. The league will be played under the format of stages. At each stage, all the teams will have to face each other and each team will have a chance to host its own stage.

The provisional schedule of the competitions has also been approved. The competition will start on March 20, 2021, but it is a matter of changes depending on the government’s protocols to prevent the COVID-19.

The meeting also approved the request of the University of Rwanda, Nyarugenge Campus to become an affiliate of the federation and the team will start in Serie-B of Rwanda Volleyball League. While the IPRC Musanze VC has been promoted to Serie-A as before last season’s halt, the team had the points that allow them to get promoted to the top tier league.

Last season, UTB VC, in the Women’s category won the league after overcoming the good side, APR VC. In the Men’s, Elie Mutabazi’s APR VC were crowned the champions following a well-fought victory against the giants UTB VC. The games in both Women’s and Men’s Categories were played to decisive sets and also played under bubble format due to the country’s current circumstances and measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
