The AFCON 2021 Qualifiers November window will be played no matter the condition mostly owing to Coronavirus says CAF.
The football governing body CAF has emphasized that all 48 matches scheduled for the November window must be played and any nation that does honour their doubleheader fixtures will be handed a 2-0 lose.
CAF says that teams should have at least 15 players on the squad so as to contend that is 11 starting players plus 4 substitutes.
There have been rising concerns from different nations as regards to the impact the Coronavirus on the 48 matches in matchday 3 and 4 of the AFCON 2021 Qualifiers. Coaches are worried that key players in Europe may not feature in the doubleheader by reason of many COVID-19 restrictions there.
Teams like Mali have resorted to calling up a larger than normal squad as a means to counter the possibility of players withdrawing due to positive tests. Mali called up a 37-man Eagles squad.
CAF also maintained that all the 48 encounters will be played behind closed. CAF also added that teams have the liberty to play the doubleheaders at one venue. Sao Tome has adopted the offer and will play their games against South Africa in port city Durban. Sao Tome is the only country so far that has relinquish their home advantage.
