Burundi Primus League: Rukinzo FC’s Benjamin Gasongo scored four Goals in the second 45 minutes of the match. 

Primus League, the football top division league in Burundi continued last weekend with match day 8. This match day was dominated with a small number of goals because in eight games played on matchday 8, there were 19 goals. This was the lowest since the third round when 15 goals were scored in 8 games of that matchday.

Matchday 8 started on Saturday, October 31st. Musongati, who had started the season strong, lost at Intwari Stadium to Athletico 1-0, a goal scored by Bienvenu Ndakwizeye. In their last 5 games, Musongati have not picked any 3 points from a game. 

Vital’O traveled to Urunani Stadium in Cibitoke province where Les Elephants host their matches. Vital’O with new head coach Olivier Niyungeko won the second consecutive game going up to 13th place with 9 points. Vital’O won through a brace from Tresor Shaka whereas Les Elephants only one scored by Emmanuel Niyongabo ending 2-1.

On Sunday, striker Benjamin Gasongo helped his team Rukinzo FC beat Bujumbura City who had to win this match to take first place. Gasongo scored all the four goals for his team in the second half of the game. Lazare Ndabitezimana scored a brace for Bujumbura. The match ended with 4-2. 

The Primus League Round 9 continue in mid-week before the International Break where the national team prepare for back to back AFCON Qualifiers matches against Mauritania.
