African continent governing body CAVB has released the activity calendar for the year 2021 and Uganda maintains rights to host African Nations Championships Junior, Women U20.
In mid-November, 2020, CAVB decided to suspend all scheduled activities till 2021 in abid to align its activities with those of FIVB and also owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. Uganda was chosen to host the Junior 2020 Women’s U-20 Nations Championship in Kampala between December 4th to 13th.
There are 9 continental competitions scheduled to be played in the year 2021 CAVB calendar. With the tournaments planned to launch in January, only 4 nations, Uganda, Nigeria, Tunisia, and Egypt have been confirmed to host 4 out of the 9.
“As we continue to monitor the evolving situation in the Continent, CAVB is required to proceed and identify the hosts’ for the 2021 competitions. We remain in anticipation that the health situation in the continent will before long, stabilize and become predictable thereby enabling the resumption of volleyball activities in all our National Federations,” CAVB President Madam Bouchra Hajij, stated in a letter addressed to National federations.
The continent’s volleyball governing body has granted till 15 January for interested National Federations, Clubs or Cities to submit applications to host one or several of the 2021 events by filling in and returning to CAVB by email.
