Rwanda Energy Group got off to a hot start as their new signing Cleveland Thomas inspires them to a 91-87 win over the Moroccan champions AS Salé. It was in this Sunday afternoon in the opening game for both teams of the 2022 BAL Sahara Conference.
Sunday 6, 2022, in Dakar Arena, Rwanda flag bearers, REG BBC made their debut in Basketball Africa League and their new signings Cleveland Thomas and Antony Rashad Walker fitted straight in as they knocked off the 2017 FIBA Africa Club champions AS Salé 91-87. The duo contributed 47 points in this crucial victory for Electricians.
Cleveland Joseph Thomas, former Western Kentucky University in NCAA Division I, helped REG by putting 26 points on the board while Rashad Walker scored 21 points on 9-for-13 shooting and grabbed 8 rebounds in the win.
AS Salé’s Terrel Stoglin led all scorers with 32 points however, his solid effort was not enough to hand his side a good start in their second BAL season.
In the next game, The National Champions, REG will face SLAC on Wednesday, while AS Salé will play against CF-Beira on the same day.
