35-year-old goaltender Dennis Onyango is a Ugandan star who started his professional football career at home in SC Villa back in 2004. He has also played for teams like St George SA, Supersport United, Mpumalanga Black Aces, Bidvest Wits and currently for ABSA Premiership Champions Mamelodi Sundowns. He has won Premier Soccer League (PSL) Goalkeeper of the year and also Africa player of the year together with many honours at his club.

With such an accolade, there is no doubt that big club names will hunt for that signature and yes they have. Goaltender Dennis Onyango says he has been approached by clubs in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. We all know what comes to mind when you hear of the top richest countries in the Middle East, “MONEY” but Onyango says they have not been solid offers.

“But they haven’t been concrete offers. And you can’t rely on things which are not concrete. Of course, they have to talk to the club first. If the club says, ‘Look, Denis, we still want you, but you can move on.’ I wouldn’t say no. After all, it’s business,” said Dennis

“However, as a player, I’m still happy to play for Sundowns and still win many more trophies. I want to add another star to the badge,” he added.

Onyango is a senior player on the Sundowns squad and he still has 3 years left on his contract.
