In a much anticipated clash between old rivals of Rwanda Premier League, Emmanuel Okwi netted against Rayon Sports in the second half at Kigali Stadium to secure Kiyovu a 2-0 victory and send Haringingo’s side to the top of the table.
Making his return to the starting lineup since November 19th in matchday 3 versus Police, Uganda cranes skipper, Emmanuel Arnold Okwi took the place in Kiyovu’s striking line in a high profile fixture of Match Day 7 against Rayon Sports, Kiyovu’s biggest rival.
19 minutes after the Kickoff, fomer APR FC winger, Kevin Ishimwe scored a beautiful strike from outside the box to offer Mumena based club a perfect start.
Kiyovu continued to threaten their opponent and Okwi forced a save from Adolphe through a well taken free-kick. However the first half ended 1-0
In the 64th minute of the game, Janvier Benedata set up Emmanuel Okwi, who made no mistake with the chance to send the ball well beyond Adolphe in goal with a fine header from close range.
Emmanuel Okwi who parted ways with Egyptian Premier League side Ittihad last summer and join Kiyovu in October, finally scored his first goal for Kiyovu in his third appearance.
Today’s win helps Francis Haringingo’s side move to the top of RPL table for the first time this season. In the next round, SC Kiyovu will host Gasogi United on Sunday, December 12, early kickoff match at Kigali Stadium
