There are still nine slots available in the last round of the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON qualifiers for the competition that will take place in 2024.
The 34th iteration of the prestigious African competition will take place in Cote d’Ivoire from 13 January to 11 February and will feature 24 potent African nations in another unforgettable TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations competition.
The West African nation will host the game for the second time after the famous 1984 edition, which saw the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon win their first TotalEnergies AFCON championship by defeating Nigeria 3-1.
Only 15 teams have reserved spots for this edition so far, leaving the destiny of 16 countries up in the air. Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, and Cape Verde, in addition to the hosts Ivory Coast, have already reserved their places closing spots in Groups A and B.
In group C, however, both positions are still up for grabs, with Namibia, Cameroon, and Burundi separated by only one point following Kenya’s exclusion.
7-time champions Egypt in Group D have also wrapped up their slot in AFCON, but Group E needs additional work from Ghana, Angola, and Central African Republic.
Congo and Gambia will compete for the final slot in Group G, which will determine which team joins Mali.
Tanzania and Uganda in Group F have their work cut out for them simply because who joins table-toppers Algeria depends on either team winning with more goals than the other.
Mozambique and Benin will compete for second place in Group L, before joining the reigning champions Senegal.
In Group K, Bafana Bafana and Morocco have advanced after Zimbabwe was disqualified due to a Fifa ban, leaving Liberia out.
