Morans’ will miss out on the service of Joel Awich in the 2021 AfroBasket Qualifiers window scheduled for Kigali next week.

Foreign-base player Joel Awich who plays in France will not play for his nation in the 2021 AfroBasket Qualifiers window scheduled for the end of November in Kigali, Rwanda.

Joel Awich is a centre/forward who plays for French side Dax Gamade.

Team head coach Cliff Owuor yesterday confirmed that due to Visa matters and the stick COVID-19 restrictions, the 27-year-old will not play for the Morans in Kigali.

“The fact that Awich can’t make it for the championships has now reduced the number of diaspora players I was relying on. His presence at the centre would have been key,” Owour said.

Joel Awich is one of the key players that the head coach was relying on for the completion. However, all is not bad as he has assured that he will feature in the February window.

Kenya is together with Senegal, Angola and Mozambique in Group B. The Kigali window will start on Wednesday 25th next weekend run through to the 29th.
