Amavubi’s hopes for next Africa Cup of Nations shattered on Sunday, June 18 as Mozambique’s Os Mambas beat them 2-0 in front of their fans at Huye Stadium

The Mambas’ triumph absolutely destroyed Amavubi’s ambitions of qualifying for the African Cup of Nations for the first time since 2004. Goals from Geny Catamo in the first half and Clesio Baugue’s decisive strike in the last seconds of the game put an end to Rwanda’s modest prospects to compete in the last match with the hopes of qualifying for the Afcon in Côte d’Ivoire in 2023.

On the other side, with a spirited 2-0 away victory against Rwanda, Mozambique keeps their hopes of making the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire alive, should they manage to get at least a draw against Benin in the final contest at Estadio Nacional do Zimpeto

Senegal leads group L with 13 points and has already secured a ticket. Mozambique is in second place with 7 points, Benin is third with 5 points, while Rwanda is at the bottom of the table with only 2 points.

This is how Carlos and Chiquinho set up their lineups today.
