16-year-old Natukunda Rachael joined AFRIYEA Golf Academy in September as one of the pioneers at the academy.
The 16-year-old has made two incredible achievements in a space of less than one month. She took first place in the Juniors’ Category at the Captian’s Tournament and also 1 runner up at the recently concluded Basaliza At 95 Golf Tournament. All this happened in late December.
Natukunda Rachael took everyone by surprise yesterday when she became the first academy student to get an eagle on a par 4 that is a (two) on one of the toughest holes at Tooro golf club. This particular hole has been named “Valley of Tears” because of the notorious challenge it has brought to many golfers at the club. However much this is a dreaded hole, Rachael used a driver and added in a chip that went straight into the hole. Only 2 shots!
Racheal’s passion for the golf has been as a result of Macklin Nsenga’s progress in golf who she looks at as her Idol. Macklin Nsenga is a renowned young golfer that has made life through ranks to be where she has reached now. Her last win came at the Uganda Ladies open 2020 when she became the 3rd runner up.
Natukunda Rachael has set the bar high for her course mates in particular, Edward Rubongoya who has also learnt a lot from the Academy
