Gorilla’s winless streak in the Rwanda Premier League has finally come to an end thanks to a lone goal from Jean Claude Nizeyimana in a tightly contested battle at Kigali Stadium against Gasogi United on matchday 9
Gorilla FC picked up their first League win of the season thanks to Nizeyimana at the 9th time of asking by beating Gasogi United 1-0. Eight games with no win, parting ways with the head coach, appointing an interim coach has been what the club went through until they named Mr Hamiss Sogonya as the head coach.
After an impressive display on the road last week against Rayon Sports, Sogonya hands Gorilla FC the first win of the 2021/2022 season to move up two places from the bottom to the 14th.
The goal Nizeyimana scored in the first half was his second in this season and he is the club’s joint-top scorer with 2 goals alongside Adeshola Johnson. Gorilla has managed to find the back of the net only 6 times in 9 matches which proves how poor Gorilla’s striking force is.
Elsewhere, Rutsiro drew 2-2 with Espoir FC at Umuganda Stadium while 10-man Etoile de l’Est held Bugesera to a goalless draw in Eastern province derby.
Tomorrow, December 18, AS Kigali host Rayon Sports at Kigali Stadium in a much-anticipated match of the matchday 9. Mukura will welcome table-toppers Kiyovu to Huye International Stadium.
