Rubavu, Rwanda Beach Volleyball 2 Star World Tour Dates Are Set

Rubavu BVB

FIVB releases the 2021 Beach Volleyball calendar and Rubavu is a destination for the only 2 Star World Tour.

The final dates for the Rubavu Beach Volleyball 2-star World Tour have been set by the Volleyball governing body, FIVB. Unlike in Uganda where the newly elected board had a couple of weeks to decide if they can host a continental event, the Rwanda Volleyball Federation has until between July 14th and 18th to prepare for the 2-star event. The election of the new Board for the Rwanda Volleyball governing body is slated for 27th March.

Julius Kansiime who is Vice President and Providence Mukamurenzi who is treasurer are the two candidates standing to replace Leandre Karekezi who decided to step down as President after serving one term.

The event has been postponed on numerous occasions citing issues brought about by the global pandemic COVID-19 however, it should be noted that Rwanda is among the countries in African that exercised proper prevention protocols to combat the spread of the virus. Right now Rwanda has also at a fast rate started the vaccination for frontline workers and so for that matter, things seem to be bright for the future in the country as the movement of people both internationally and locally is expected to get back to normal or even increase.

The new calendar will feature eight 4-star events, nine 1 star events and the only 2-star event in Rubavu, the World Tour Finals and the U19 World Championships Roi Et Thailand.
