Rwanda and Cape Verde have all failed to score in the doubleheader against each other.
Rwanda and Cape Verde shared the spoils again in Kigali in the second leg that Rwanda played over 60 minutes with a man down following the second booking of midfielder Ally Niyonzima.
Amavubi were at home hoping for the first three points of the AFCON Qualifiers campaign, however, it ended up with no goal scored and Rwanda is the only country to have not scored in these Qualifiers. In this match, Rwanda Head coach, Vincent Mashami remained with his lineup from the previous game in Praia while Pedro Brito, the head coach of Cape Verde made three changes from the previous lineup.
After 28 minutes of the game, Rwandan midfielder Ally Niyonzima was shown a second yellow card following the first he received in the 12th minute, it was a foul that some observers said the referee was too harsh. Niyonzima left the pitch and match continue with 10 vs 11.
The second half started with a change on the side of Rwanda, Mashami dropping the striker Kagere and entered midfielder Kevin Muhire. Things got more than worse at the 56th minute when the striker Tuyisenge got injured, Mashami was forced to make another change and introduce Ernest Sugira who didnt play the first leg match because of injury. 5 minutes later, The Rwandan Goalie, Kwizera kept Amavubi in the match once again with a one on one save against Lisandro Semedo. The match ended with no other scoring opportunity on both sides.
Mozambique kept his second place in this group despite losing at home against the leaders Cameroon. Cape Verde are third behind Mozambique both sharing 4 points while Rwanda is still trailing at the bottom with 2 points.
