Title contenders URA FC were held to a goalless draw by league record champions Sc Villa at Bombo Military grounds.
URA FC were pre-match favourites basing on current league form. Coach Sam Ssimbwa’s men came calling. Cromwell Rwothomio, Shafic Kagimu Kuchi and Michael Birungi had chances to put tax collectors ahead but were denied by SC Villa’s experienced keeper Said Keni.
Sc Villa had chances through Muhammad Senoga, Geoffrey Waswa from a set-piece and Ronald Olaki’s header that couldn’t disturb Nafian Alionzi.
And in Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara City FC couldn’t capitalise on home advantage as it has been for many years against big clubs in the country. KCCA FC kept calm and forced a draw after a resurgent Ankole Lions.
Mbarara City FC was welcoming club captain Hillary Mukundane from suspension. Ankole Lions created the majority of chances from each half but club captain and custodian Charles Lukwago was equal to the city’s challenges.
Mukundane, Henry Kitegenyi had cleat cut chances in 1st half to score but their efforts were wasted.
