CAF CL: Simba tops Group A after beating Al-Merreikh.

Simba

Tanzania giants, SC Simba are one leg into the quarter-final after finding the Sudanese side’s net 3 times at Benjamin Mkapa International stadium.

An hour Before this match, Al-Merreikh disclosed that they had recorded eight COVID-19 cases in players and the Sudanese accused their opponent of manipulating the test results.

This also came after Simba petitioned to CAF claiming that Al Merreikh fielded suspended players in the first leg game played in Sudan on March 6, 2021, and they should be punished. The allegedly fielded players have been suspended by Sudan FA for signing two separate contracts with Khartoum based clubs, Al Merreikh and Al Hilal.

Apart from the pre-game battle, the Msimbazi giants dominated the whole game as the results shows. The two goals from the first half scored by Luis Miquissone and skipper Muhamed Hussein put the host ahead before Congolese striker, Chris Mugalu scored the third and It ended 3-0. With ten points, Simba tops Group A and they have not yet conceded a single goal.

Elsewhere, at Stade des Martyrs de Kinshasa, AS Vita was humiliated by Al Ahly three goals to nil. This was Al Ahly’s first away win against a Congolese side.

Didier Gomez da Rosa’s Simba will have to host Kinshasa based club, AS Vita before travelling to Cairo stadium to face Al Ahly to complete the group stage games. Only one point is needed for the Tanzanian side to advance to the Quarterfinal.
