The Stanbic Uganda Cup has once again been postponed one day to the first scheduled semi-final tie.
This is the second time the Uganda Cup is postponed this season as the first time came as a result of concerns related to COVID-19 in June.
This time the reason mainly revolves around the engagement of participating players in national engagements. “The National Team preparations for Kenya vs Uganda and Uganda vs Mali are underway. Vipers and Express have more than 3 players in the training camp,” said Nalule.
Draws were conducted a couple of weeks ago and dates were set between August 19th and 30th with Vipers to play against Police FC and League Champions Express FC to play against BUL FC.
At the moment the national team is in a training camp ahead of matches scheduled in Jordan against the Syrian national team on August 23rd and 26th, 2021. Thereafter, they travel to Addis Ababa to face Ethiopia on August 29th.
The national team will then play their first qualifier match against Kenya on September 2nd at Nyayo National Stadium.
Apart from national engagements, participants, Express FC have continental engagements where they will face Sudan’s Al Merrikh in the CAF Champions League, between September 10th and 12th for the 1st leg and September 19th and 21st for the 2nd leg.
With a tight calendar that will have the league commence in October when is the appropriate to have the Stanbic Uganda Cup played to the conclusion?
