Uganda Drops Women’s U20 African Nation’s Volleyball Championship Hosting Rights

The Uganda Volleyball Federation, UVF has in a press release letter confirmed that they will not host the Women’s U20 African Nation’s Volleyball Championship.

The volleyball governing body has in a letter addressed to the volleyball family and press announced that they will not be able to host the upcoming CAVB calendar event supposed to be hosted by Uganda between 18th – 26th February.

In a letter addressed to UVF, the National Council of Sports required the federation to submit all the needed dossiers as stipulated for National Federations with interest to host any international sports fixtures or events with a deadline of 22nd January 2021 set to have all requirements.

The Executive noted that nothing substantial was in place as per the requirements from the National Council of Sports. With the yet to happen handover of office plus the global COVID-19 pandemic, the scheduled time window would not be enough to appropriately arrange the continental championship.

The federation will now intensify preparations for the national team to participate in the Women’s U20 African Nation’s Volleyball Championship in the newly selected host. It also pledges to bid for hosting rights in the future should the opportunity come up again.
